With Mother’s Day around the corner, I wanted to present some ideas for homemade, low cost gift ideas for mom. The problem is that I’m not really a “homemade, low cost gifts for mom” kind of guy. Fortunately, our daughter loves crafts. So I asked her to find some great gift ideas from Pinterest.  Here’s what she found, along with her comments about each idea:

  1. Mason Jar Picture Frame Vase

This idea is for those who don’t want to spend $70 on a vase from Pier 1 or Crate and Barrel. It’s a fabulous way to take an old picture and turn it into a keepsake that will be passed on.

Moms deserve to be treated like royalty and that’s why this mother’s day gift is sure to please. The great thing about this idea is that it doesn’t cost much at all! Elf Cosmetics make a good “jar stuffer” as it is budget friendly. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what to put in the spa kit.

There’s no better way to unwind after a long day then to sit back, relax and enjoy a good movie. Instead of the basic butter popcorn, why not add special toppings, like her favorite candy in pieces, or sugar and cinnamon.

Family is everything and a special way to show that is by displaying it for all to see. The imprint that family has can be kept in the most classic way-a picture frame.

Why not give mom her favorite flowers and favorite pictures of the ones she loves most? This simple idea is sure to impress. Pick out a colorful ribbon to put around the pot and put it on the table for everyone to see.

  1. Mason Jar Candy with a Twist

Instead of giving plain candy in a jar, make it special. Buy some cardstock at the dollar store and write things she doesn’t know about you. For example one of mine is: I am afraid of birds. (Note from Dad: Anna, I didn’t realize you were afraid of birds. How could I not know that? I guess I’ll return the Big Bird stuffed animal I bought for your birthday!)

It can be more personal or it can be funny like mine. Also write down things you like about her and encouraging Bible verses.
